This book is a collection if essays take a very deep critical look at science fiction cinema.

There are very interesting perspectives that I never considered before, and I may be doing a deep dive into some of these topics after I finish the book.

It already has me looking at the different genre defining aspects of sci-fi in a new way.

Since this book was published in 1990, though, it is a very interesting exercise to be able to apply these different theoretical ideas to more recent films, from something that is purely spectical like Avatar or smaller indie films like The Endless or Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.

I think this was a good buy, and it’s definitely will be sparking some interesting ideas I’d like to talk about in the future.
